What is the IYKYK Ranch Rodeo?

This is not your typical rodeo.

The IYKYK Invitational Ranch Rodeo brings together hand-picked ranch teams to compete in real-world ranch work—fast, gritty, and unscripted.

No fluff. No showboating. Just cowboys doing the job the way it’s done outside the arena.

Competing Ranch Information

  • General Rules – 
    • Individual may not participate with more than one team
    • Dress code is required at all times
    • Matching shirts must be worn
    • Teams must wear leggings, except in wild cow milking
    • No tying on, No rough housing livestock
    • Only the team captain is permitted to talk to judge regarding contest rules; no other team members or representatives of the team is permitted to approach rodeo personnel regarding contest results during or after the event.
    • Judge has final work
    • Teams/Individuals that fail to adhere to these rules may not be permitted to compete in future events.
  • Open Ranch Bronc Riding – $150 per man
    • Must use a ranch saddle
    • Saddles will be inspected by Judges
    • Night latch can be used
    • No hobbling of stirrups
    • Must pre enter and pay by April 27th – venmo @wacey-moore #1178
    • Will not pay day money – must have qualified ride
  • Wild Cow Milking
    • 1 Team in Arena at a time
    • 2 loop limit
    • 3 legal head catches: horns, neck or half head
    • Every Team Member Mounted
    • Mugger and Milker – Ropes must be clear off horses prior to jumping off
    • Sort cow out of herd and cross line before roping
    • Cow cannot cross back over line or it will be a NT
    • 3 Minute time limit for each team
    • No international jerk downs and cow must be standing to milk
    • Must have milk in bottle to get time
  • Calf Branding
    • 2 Teams in arena at a time
    • Members from each team including, a roper, two flankers, a brander and one herd holder.
    • Team must drag two calves
    • 1 dragger per team
    • Calf must return to herd before he is eligible to be roped again.
    • Two feet or one hind leg only, no high hocks will be allowed
    • No Loping in herd
    • Flankers cannot touch calf until anybody part crosses the line
    • 2 minute time limit
    • Time stops when iron is returned to the bucket
  • Sorting/doctoring with 3 head
    • Sort 3 head in order or re-sort if needed
    • Doctor last numbered calf
    • Loping in heard is 30 second penalty
    • Last calf cannot come back across the line unless it has been caught or NT
  • Stray Gathering
    • 2 minute time limit
    • 3 loop max per animal
    • Both animals must be tied
    • Judge will not drop flag until last calf is down and tied
    • 3 legs must be tied
    • Both animals must remain tied for 8 seconds
  • Cowboy Roll Out – $100 per man – Enter on site
    • 1 steer will be in arena
    • Cowboy must put boots and leggings
    • Then run and saddle and bridle horse held by helper
    • 1st to rope the cow and make it face will win prize.
