Wait, does that name sound familiar? It should. Robbie Hodges has become one of the guys of the Post Stampede Rodeo. In 2023, Robbie joined the rodeo as the Rodeo Clown and Barrel Man
Robbie Hodges, a barrelman at the 2010 National Finals Rodeo, has expanded his talent outside the rodeo arena into the music industry.
Hodges’ latest endeavor has him singing vocals on the song “Rodeo in the Rain,” with the band the Durangos.
Hodges, who has been a barrelman in the PRCA since 2005, teamed up with guitarist Bruce Smith of The Georgia Satellites and Jimmy Ginn of the Ginn Music Group for the release of their first single.
The single is now available on Apple Music, iTunes, Spotify, and others.
“This is my second single and I have been piddling with the guitar for 10 to 15 years,” Hodges said. “I met Bruce on a Lynyrd Skynyrd Tour on a cruise we went on. We have been best friends ever since. Bruce does every piece of this (new song) except for the drums and the vocals. I very much enjoy doing this. I’m 54 years old and I have been working the barrel almost every day of my life. I’m not wanting to retire. I just wanted something fun to do.
“I’m really proud of this (song, Rodeo in the Rain). It is a toe tapper.”
